CONVECTORPUT ROOSTERS / RADIATOR COVERS

Radiator Covers, known in Dutch as “convectorput roosters”, are a hallmark of mid-20th century Dutch technology, designed to heat ground floors efficiently. These covers evoke a sense of nostalgia for many, often sparking conversations and personal memories.

Though this technology is now outdated and being replaced by modern floor heating systems, the radiator covers themselves are ideal for repurposing and upcycling. Their modular design lends itself perfectly to contemporary applications. Typically made from wood or aluminum, these covers were produced in a variety of forms and colors, each with its own unique character. This diversity allows for truly one-of-a-kind, individual designs when repurposed.

In my process, I carefully explore each piece of material, thoroughly cleaning, sanding, and refinishing it as needed. This hands-on engagement enables me to uncover the essence of the material, preserving its unique qualities and character while transforming it into something fresh and relevant for today’s needs.
